Bootlicking is annoying and Bootlickers are inefficient

These crazy lickspittles are pretty annoying and they are everywhere. Unfortunately, they are the ones who come up faster than an efficient developer to an extent. But once they reach that extent, they cannot go any further from that unless some miracles happen. Inefficiency cannot be hidden or morphed for a long time – it would expose itself and manifest in several forms. One such form is bootlicking.

Code is King, Coding is an Art, Code is Supreme

Coding is an art. Everything else is a humbug leave alone the sales and marketing (the only other important things) – i meant the process audits, useless meetings and so on. Coding is the reason why many developers are hired for a project and are paid for. But some unethical developers sneak into an organization hoodwinking the interviewers into believing that they are experts at code. These unethical developers are the root cause for Continue reading Code is King, Coding is an Art, Code is Supreme

Android Tablet makes more sense than iPad

Why buy an iPad when you can buy a better Android Tablet at a fraction of cost ? I don’t understand this inexplicable frenzy behind any Apple product. I could not stop to wonder if people have lost their sanity or if they have been hypnotized en masse. I tried to play with and iPad and even tried to work with it. I do not write it off – it is a good tablet Continue reading Android Tablet makes more sense than iPad

Will Google Hummingbird (new Algorithm) affect SEO ?

Google is clearly the God of search engines and web masters have discovered many ways to optimize their websites to improve their visibility on Google. Google has silently released a new search algorithm named Hummingbird which is already incorporated into their search engine. Considering this and considering many other technical reasons, I believe Google’s new Search algorithm Google Hummingbird may not adversely affect Continue reading Will Google Hummingbird (new Algorithm) affect SEO ?

Software Patents could be illegal, are a bad idea and should be abolished

Software Patents are not just a bad idea, but could be illegal too. The supreme court of USA (Case 545 F.3d 943, 88 U.S.P.Q.2d 1385) ruled that Software is mostly “mathematical algorithms which by themselves are abstract ideas that are not patentable”. Over the past decade software is becoming increasingly free (free as in beer) where as the development cost is headed skywards. Anybody who has a knack on economics and business would understand that this is another marketing ploy wherein their wallets are being filled by some huge corporate or through government grants. This would adversely affect the software industry as a whole. Continue reading Free software (as in beer) is rabidly dangerous

The brand new Yahoo Mail and new App for Windows 8/8.1

Yahoo has unveiled a new version of Yahoo Mail with a revamped user interface. It looks refreshing though I doubt the usability factor. There are a few notable changes like custom backgrounds and ability to quickly “star” an email. However there is nothing so drastic. The welcome screen (in Windows 8/8.1) displays an assortment of themes you can choose to set as default. Its good to have themes, but we need more functionality. Continue reading The brand new Yahoo Mail and new App for Windows 8/8.1

No Promotion at job though you deserved it ?

You deserved it but you were not promoted. Somebody else was promoted at your expense and you feel that you were used. You know that the “someone” does not deserve it a bit. You know your contribution was no less than stellar. Your peers admire you and your bosses respect you. But then your work was not highlighted the way it should have been. Your visibility had been eclipsed and you are a star just within the team – no one else knows what you did. Continue reading No Promotion at job though you deserved it ?

The Fake Manager with just an MBA degree

The Real Manager

I have huge respect for someone who has a deep knowledge technically in addition to a passion for managing a project. I respect managers of this kind. Back in 2008, I worked for someone who was a Software Architect before and who had become a project manager because of his interest in managing a project and team. It was the most amazing phase of my career and I loved working with such types. Continue reading The Fake Manager with just an MBA degree
